California Online Gambling

With New Jersey, Delaware, and Nevada now on board for internet gambling, it is curious that California has not been at the forefront of this issue. The reason for this seems to be centered on the tribal factions who were, as early as a year ago, against any form of online gambling and thus played a crucial role in determining the outcome of any legislation. However, it seems that things are looking up for California, at least in the online poker department.

A Complete Turn-a-Round

The tribal concerns that were opposed to online gaming have come around. Perhaps this is due to the three states heretofore mentioned above that finally passed online gambling bills. Now it seems that California may be on the cusp of approving online poker in particular, but not full online gambling in general. One could say this is a positive step forward for California, however, other sources state that legalizing online gambling may not be that far fetched. The economy and more importantly, the deficit California faces may speed up the need for more revenue for this state. Hence, tribal influences may see the writing on the wall and agree to the full legalization of online gambling.

Is Online Gambling a Foregone Conclusion in California?

This is the question of the day. Some in the know believe that 2013 may be the year that California passes online gambling, and not just online poker. When you consider that most US states are not waiting around for the Congress or the Senate to decide, they are instead taking the proverbial bull by the horns and offering up bills that would legalize online gambling once and for all. If the tribes are for it, it is very likely this type of legislation will pass. It's just a question of time.
